Have you and a key partner gotten off to a bad start? Do you have a long standing partnership that has gone off the rails?
It happens.
Ready for a do-over? Once you and your partner agree you are ready, consider these questions - separately and then together.
Start with what you have in common: What three hopes and aspirations do you share?
Be explicit about your appreciation for the other: What do you see as the three most critical contributions the other makes to the work and to the enterprise?
Acknowledge your part: If you had one do-over that you believe could have improved the trajectory of your partnership had you done it differently, what would it be?
Commit to the long haul: How would you know if your partnership is improving? What are the outwardly visible and inwardly palpable signals?
Repairing conflict can be a bit like waiting on the side of the pool together to jump in. Someone has to go first.
